Earlier this year, the Cartford Inn was named Pub of the Year 2020 by The Telegraph Newspaper.
It’s in a beautiful village just a short drive away from us. Sadly though, shortly after achieving this prestigious national award, its restaurant, bar and hotel have been temporarily closed due to full lockdown in England.
However, the good news is that the deli, called Toti (Taste of The Inn), have expanded their range of delicious takeaways.
We went along there this morning.
The outdoor seating area around the unlit fire was roped off:

There was an opportunity for me to again admire the artwork by the world-renowned artist My Dog Sighs. He has been commissioned to paint his famous Eyes in many places around the globe. This one, at the door to the deli, features David Bowie (with his Ziggy Stardust flash) right in the middle of the pupil:

As soon as the first lockdown ended (was it in early summer? I can’t remember), the Inn was the first place in the UK to offer Covid-secure dining in glass-houses:

I expect when the current lockdown ends on 2nd December, they’ll install heaters in the glass-houses. I hope so! Although there’s always inside with a roaring log-fire.
Bring on the good times! In the meantime:
Stay Safe Everyone.

These are wonderful photos for this week. I like the “eye” in the wall. 😀

That eye… Beautiful in monochrome, Helen. Rather melancholy.

Yes, it does look kind of sad in monochrome. It’s missing the buzz. 😞After lockdown it’ll get back to its usual vibrant self, I’m sure. 😀 Thanks for stopping by.

That second photo – the eye – OMG! That’s so awesome – both the painting and how you’ve composed the shot. I really like it!

Thank you. The eye looks stunning in colour, but monochrome seems to suit it during this period of lockdown.

Great pictures! The greenhouses are a fantastic idea but I don’t envy anyone making several of them.

The greenhouses were well used in the short time we had between lockdowns. Let’s hope they’ll be in use again soon. Thanks for visiting and commenting
